Privacy Policy

Compass PDF Editor ("the app") is made by the Compass PDF Editor team in Israel ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect and why. The short version: your documents never leave your computer.

Your documents

The app opens, edits and saves files locally on your device. We never receive, upload, read or store the contents of your documents. Text recognition (OCR) also runs on your device.

Licence activation

When you activate or renew a licence, the app sends our licence server your licence key, a one-way hash that identifies your computer (not your name or files), the app version and the time. We use this only to check that your licence is valid and to enforce the number of computers it covers.

Purchases

Payments are handled by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record. Paddle collects your name, email, billing address and payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive your email, country and order details so we can deliver your licence and provide support. We never see your full card number.

Support email

If you write to us, we keep your messages and email address to answer you and to improve the app.

Crash reports

If the app crashes, it may offer to send a crash report containing technical information (app version, Windows version, error details). Reports are sent only if you agree and never include document contents.

Website

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (IP address, pages requested) for security for a limited time.

Sharing

We do not sell your information. We share it only with the services that run the business (Paddle for payments, our hosting and licence-server provider, our email provider), or when required by law.

Retention

We keep licence and order records while your licence is active and afterwards as long as tax and accounting law requires. You can ask us to delete other information at any time.

Your rights

You may ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or object to its use, by writing to support@compasspdf.com. If you are in the EU or UK, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell customers by email.
